Do you sell prints of your Narnia drawings/fan art?
As much as I would love to draw Narnia pictures and other Disney fan art and be able to sell those pieces as well as sell prints of those pieces, it is unfortunately due to copyright infringement that I am not allowed to offer such artwork for sale. However, I will continue to draw such things for fun, hopefully bring you joy, and even inspire you for similar personal commissions you may have in mind.
Can I share/license your work?
I would be incredibly happy and honoured for you to share my work on social media or with friends and family as long as you include my name, Estelle Pogson/Postles Lodge, in the caption, tags, or message. Please mention me on Instagram @postleslodge.
I also do work with companies and individuals who license specific pieces, usually commissioned work, for their own businesses, products, or projects.
Can I order prints to use in my interior design work?
Absolutely! I would be thrilled to see my work being used in beautiful homes, and inspiring others how my artwork would appear framed and admired on the wall. To give you some ideas, the best and frequently used pieces for this have been my landscapes and botanical studies. Please mention my name and my Instagram handle @postleslodge when sharing posts.
Can you illustrate my book?
I would be delighted to illustrate your book! Particularly if your book has something to do with my favourite things like ‘far off places, daring sword fights, magic spells, a prince in disguise!’* Ever since I was little, I dreamed of becoming an illustrator for children’s books/novels. Take a look at my illustrations and other work to see if I am the illustrator for you to bring your story alive. See the commission questions below for pricing details.

What other services do you offer?
Logos & Branding: These kinds of projects I do more infrequently as they tend to focus on creating more basic forms with graphic design skills, and I am a very detailed artist by nature. However, if you have a brand that may pertain to my work in some capacity, I would be excited to start on this venture with you. One of my most proud logos I had the privilege of designing was for the elegant clothing company Kait & Crowne Collections. And in case you are wondering, the logo for Postles Lodge was wonderfully created by my dear friend, Brad Dryer, who knew of my love for lion doorknockers and cleverly incorporated a pencil in the ring.
Photography & Editing: I love taking photos! The majority of my artworks derive from my own photography as reference. My equipment lies more on the primitive side of things, but I would thoroughly enjoy taking portraits of you or your pet. Photography and editing can also be a big part in the commissioning process. To find out more about this, read below.
Commissions
How long does a piece take to draw/paint?
There are a number of factors to take into account — size, medium, level of detail, etc. After timing myself on commissioned works, I have a general idea how long pieces can take. Graphite (black & white) portraits that are 9″x12″ take on average 60 hours over a period of a month. Coloured pencil drawings can range from 100 – 150 hours. When it comes to painting, watercolour lands somewhere in between, and oil paintings can take longer depending on size.
Why does it take me so long? Over the years I have been continuously perfecting my craft and techniques to create the highest level of quality and accuracy in my work. I pay very close attention to detail and forms, observing carefully what I see to depict realistic representations. There is also a great deal of layering involved to enhance the richness of value, colour, and texture.
What is the procedure to have a portrait done?
Portraits are my favourite to capture! If you have an image already in mind that you would like to have as a bespoke drawing or painting, you can email the photo to me and we can discuss size and medium. The photo needs to be in high resolution, either a scanned in photograph, or a digital file above 2,000 pixels. If desired, I am able to simplify backgrounds (although if backgrounds are nice I do like drawing them, too), but for such portraits I will not make any alterations to the image.
Say you want a brand new picture or something a little more fantastical like you dressed up as a queen or a pirate. I will arrange an appointment with you to photograph you myself, either draw or paint the portrait as stated above, or have some costume pieces and props available for you, and edit the entire image to create the scene you are imagining. This second process is what I do for my illustration work as well. If we live in different countries across oceans, I can walk you through the types of photos I would need to work with.
How much do you charge?
As of right now, my hourly rate is 40 Swiss Francs (the exchange rate for € and $ is really close and in £ it comes to ~35). When a project requires more preparation work at the start, there is usually an additional 20 hours one should calculate on top of the time to make the final product. Cost of materials used as well as shipping costs will vary.
Do you have a payment plan?
Since some of the projects I undertake end up costing around 3,000 CHF, I understand that this is not always feasible to pay in one go. First look over to see what price category your piece would fall under. I can then give you a closer estimation based on your particular image. I will either ask for 50% of the estimated quote and also, if the case may be, the amount for the preparation work before getting started on the final project, or I will ask for a smaller, regular payment at the beginning of each month while I’m working on your commission. So, if the piece takes three months to complete, that would be only 1,000 in 3 payments, plus any prep work, material costs, and shipping.
Other arrangements can be made for exceptional projects such as collaborations.
What commissions would you not accept?
If what you may be wishing to request me to draw does not correlate well with my portfolio, there are other fantastic artists who would be better suited for the job. I do not accept to design tattoos, depict nudity, or other subjects that would compromise my Christian values. As for portrait photos, please do not send me pictures that are of a low quality, have unnatural perspective, or flash lighting. If you have more questions, do contact me and I would love to hear from you!
