Just as the first time I saw the picture of Queen Susan on coronation day, I knew I had to draw this of Peter getting ready to charge into battle. Here I was trying my hand at using coloured pencils in this realistic technique and I learned a lot about light, texture, and mixing colour. This is one of the incredibly few pieces where I took some artistic liberty in excluding some of the other characters and banners behind Peter that were featured in the original image as I wanted the focus to be entirely on him, particularly drawing your eye to the red of his tunic against the green grass.
