I remember being in an airport bookstore when I was 11 years old and seeing the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe movie companion book by Perry Moore for the first time on the shelf. I only had a very brief time to spend there, so I flipped through the book very quickly and the one thing I remember standing out to me more than anything was this picture of Susan after being crowned queen. My first thought was that I really wanted to draw it one day. It wasn’t until I was visiting England four years later when I finally obtained a copy of this book. I thoroughly loved reading all about the production process of this film and gaining better insight into the adventure that these four young actors experienced on set. And when I was 17, I finally fulfilled my childhood wish of putting this picture to paper with pencils. Little did I know that I would have the immense honour of hand-delivering a copy of this drawing to Anna Popplewell herself this year in May 2024 at the Fantasy Basel convention. Such a moment I will never forget.
